In 1994, Matthias and Rosette Brefin, in collaboration with the Canton and the Burgergemeinde of Bern, as well as the municipality of Ins, founded the non-profit Albert Anker-Haus Ins Foundation, which today runs the Centre Albert Anker. Its purpose is to preserve the house “in its current state, as well as the artistic works and personal effects still present on the premises […] as cultural heritage.” Since 2009, the Albert Anker House has been part of the Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property of National Importance. Thanks to donations of works, documents and objects belonging to Albert Anker or from his immediate circle, the foundation’s collection is constantly growing.

The Board of Trustees represents the foundation externally, manages its affairs and determines the strategic direction of the Centre Albert Anker.

The Board of Trustees is composed as follows:

Dr Claudia Engler | Representative of the Burgergemeinde Bern
