Albert Anker
Albert Anker (1831- 1910) is without a doubt the most popular swiss painter. His portraits of children and aged people of Ins, his village of origin, are unforgettable. Less known are his drawings, fayences and effortless sketches created in Paris.
The research around Anker discovers the artist in a new light as a progressive and broadly interested humanist. From Ankers hand stem the most stunning depictions of children, brought forward by european realism of the 19th century.
« First, one has to form an ideal in his phantasy, then make this ideal accessible to the people. »
